About Transnet Foundation and School of excellence
The Transnet SAFA (South African Football Association) School of Excellence was started in 1994 with 47 learners. And now with 120 leaners, the school continues to grow in infrastructure and academic performance. With an achievement of a 78 % matric pass rate in 2013, Transnet is confident of producing quality future soccer professionals.
Through its sport portfolio, Transnet Foundation has tirelessly given, and continues to give, young sportsmen and women in rural communities a great opportunity to fulfil their dreams. The Foundation realizes that talent is alone will not determine the success of potential future stars. Without the opportunities to discover and develop their talent, the journey from grassroots to glory is unlikely to happen. With this in mind, Transnet continues to provide platforms in which our country’s talent can be nurtured and developed.
